One should keep the jewellery in bags either made of cloth or plastic pouches so that they don't tarnish fast.
You can also get tarnish prevention cloth bags for it. Best way to clean is by rubbing with a soft cloth from time to time and wearing it...otherwise you get polishes in the market specifically meant for silver.
One should not use toothpaste or any other household chemicals and do not wear it while swimming because the chlorine damages the jewellery.
